DO ECO FRIENDLY POOP BAGS DECOMPOSE?? eco-friendly poop bag review
I’m back after nearly a year and a half after posting my original eco-friendly poop bag review with something a bit more exciting. Do eco-friendly dog poop bags really decompose? Let’s find out!
I’m creating this new series on my channel called “does it decompose?” In this series, I will be testing different eco-friendly materials to see if they truly decompose. Next up is Pela Case so subscribe to stay tuned!
These dog poop bags are by Pet N Pet. You can find their eco poop bags here: https://compostables.org/shop/pet-n-pet-compostable-poop-bags-dog-waste-bags-pet-clean-up-bags-green-eco-friendly-certified-by-us-bpi-and-eur-vincotte-meet-astm-6400-en13432-240-counts-certified/
I will also be making a future video about how to live low waste with a dog/how to live low waste with pets so stay tuned!

Thanks so much for watching 🙂
The idea of tossing the bags into the bush would not be earth friendly. A sad option.
For anyone looking into this, make sure you’re buying the ones labeled compostable as they’re made with corn starch and PBAT. The others they have still advertise 38% corn starch and 62% PE and they list them as biodegradable – but PE is polyethylene and is NOT biodegradable.
Great Video and review!! i’m always afraid with this topic because i love my pets but I hate to contaminate, thanks to take your time to this review.
Thanks for this review (a couple years later!) I’m looking into compostable trash and zipper bags by HoldOn and hoping someone will do a similar review of their products. It looks like the certifications and ingredients are right, but it just makes me feel better to see that someone has tried it in their home compost.
Thank you for your video it was very helpful
Thank you for this video!
Thank you so much for this video. I throw my used bags straight into the outside trash bin instead of the plastic bag inside, so maybe they break down in the landfill more readily that way? I really appreciate you doing this, I’ve often wondered if these bags are really compostable so I’m glad to know the truth!
My understanding is that if something is Composeble then it would need the heat and moisture to aids in the Breaking down of the Material and would take a minimum of a Month to full Breakdown in the right Conditions.
So much value and effort ! Thank you for your work 😃😊🌱👍🏻
Omg the people who are stoked when they see decomposition happening are golden people ♥️
Great to know that they are indeed biodegradable, especially when we had been using for a while here in Australia.
I’ll try them! Your video was very helpful ♡
I’m not sure about whether to throw the bags in the landfill or just on the ground 🤔 the problem (for me at least) is that I only really use poop bags for my dog in the park and walking by other peoples homes… so it would definitely be litter to leave it out there. My town does not have a compost program (and my family has plans for a backyard compost but doesn’t have one yet) so I often buy things that are compostable and then end up throwing them away. I know that’s not really an improvement on emissions, but at least I’m supporting a thoughtful company?? 😬
Your kind words are greatly appreciated. We’re so happy to hear about your positive experience! 🐾
I use these bags too! I’ve been trying to get Kadena to start carrying them at Karing Kennels because the bags they have there they think are eco friendly but are really just plastic bags wrapped around recycled cardboard. #fail
Thank you for put it to the test! 💚
if dog owners put these poo bags in peoples garbage cans, it goes into a cement sealed landfill so it will never breakdown. there was a study that found a loose hotdog still intact after 40 years in a landfill. See: (New York Times, "Seeking the Truth in Refuse")
👋
I think in a potted plant or on the surface of the grass you probably have less bugs and micro organisms than would be in an actual compost pile which help to digest, and as others have mentioned a compost pile also gets very hot. (Source: I have moved compost from one bin to another)
outstanding performance….enjoyed a lot….we are your old friends….always beside you…also inviting you to our home….come to visit…..and stay connected…….
Thanks for sharing! I was super curious if they did even decompose just have to be super careful at the company. Ty!!
YUKS 😁
Remember when we compost grass and leaves etc., the composting location is supposed to be in the sun and get water from rain or you have to add some to make the breakdown happen.
I always assumed that the process could take awhile. If you told me that it could take a year to decompose, I wouldn’t be surprised.
You shouldn’t throw any waste into the woods. Even biodegradable waste can have a negative impact on wildlife. The poo in the bag is actually full of toxic bacteria and doesn’t belong "in the woods". A landfill is specifically designed to help us process the waste in a better way.
Thanks for solving my poop bag curiosity.
I’ll definitely buy these next time! 😊
